Many homes built prior to 1970 have no insulation in the wall cavities. Eco Insulation recommends installing Blow-in Natural Fiber Insulation in sidewall cavities, the second major area of energy loss in most homes. The technique most commonly used is the two-hole, double blow method.
BRICK
For brick we use the injection method. This is done from the outside. Our technicians will drill a series of three 5/8" holes in each wall cavity, the holes are drilled in the brick mortar joints and upon completion the mortar is replaced with new mortar. When drilling we collect as much of the old mortar dust to get try to match the old color. We can not guarantee it will be exactly the same but its very close.
VINYL SIDING
This is done form the outside as well. We use specialized zip tools to lift the vinyl siding and then using the injection method fill the cavities. Upon completion we snap the siding back into place and leave the home like we found it.
ALUMINUM & WOOD SIDING
Unfortunately these exteriors can not be lifted so we drill 1" holes through the siding. We fill the cavity and once completed we use plastic plugs that fit snugly in the hole.
INTERIOR INJECTION
This is an option where the exterior material cannot be damaged. A series of 1" holes is drilled in the plaster and the cavities are filled. Upon completion we will fill the holes with he first coat of drywall compound.
