Effective today through Jan. 31, 2010, homeowners can claim a tax credit for 15 per cent of renovation expenses between $1,000 and $10,000. The maximum tax credit (on $9,000 in renovations) is worth $1,350.

25% increase for home energy-efficiency retrofits
Canadian homeowners are being urged to act now to take advantage of a new opportunity to save money on home energy retrofits. The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Natural Resources, announced that effective March 30, 2009, for a limited time, grants under the ecoENERGY - Retrofit Homes program will increase by 25 percent.
